Enactus Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Accelerator

The Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Accelerator is an Enactus program made possible with funding from Walmart that empowers women by providing entrepreneurial training and workforce development through Enactus teams. The need for women’s economic empowerment is evident around the world. While leading organizations and corporations have identified significant benefits that result from the ability of women to equally and fully participate in the economy, there is still much work to be done to advance women’s empowerment.

Women are not less capable of achieving economic success than men, but they are more likely to encounter circumstances, norms and laws that limit their full economic participation. . .

Economic inequity creates opportunity costs that are substantial and global–because research suggests that when a woman’s economic status improves, so does that of her household, her community and, potentially, her country United Nations Foundation

Despite the challenges that remain on the front of women’s economic empowerment, Enactus students see this as an opportunity to create value in the lives of women, their families and their communities. Through the Enactus Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Accelerator, Enactus teams work side-by-side with women to empower them with the skills and confidence needed to help them succeed in the workforce or their own business.

About Enactus

Enactus is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring students to improve the world through entrepreneurial action. We provide a platform for teams of outstanding university students to create community development projects that put people’s own ingenuity and talents at the center of improving their livelihoods. Guided by educators and supported by business leaders, our students take the kind of entrepreneurial approach that empowers people to be a part of their own success. Our work transforms both the lives of the people we serve, and in turn, the lives of our students as they develop into more effective, values-driven leaders. To learn more, visit www.enactus.org.
